Bronson Arroyo dominated striking out 10 Tampico batters and third baseman Kevin Youkilis ripped 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the sizzling Jefferson Park Penguins defeated the Tampico Stogies by a score of 7 to 0 at the ballpark. Youkilis had a big day at the plate. He lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 4th inning and ripping a solo home run (his 8th of the season) in the 6th inning. Jefferson Park had 11 hits overall, while Tampico had 3. Arroyo(4-5) got the win allowing no runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. The loss was charged to Al Leiter(6-4). He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 7 innings of work. Steve Seydell was asked about the performance of Arroyo, 'He had his good stuff out there this afternoon. The fans really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more adrenalin.'
